Bad Blogger!

I am a horrible blogger!  It has been impossible to keep up lately, so unfortunately the blog posts have fallen to the bottom of the list.  So...what's new?

Justin has been working extremely long hours getting his insurance business off the ground.  I have to say, I am incredibly inspired by his work ethic and am so proud of what he's done.  As much as I wish we had more time to spend together, I know he's hard at work so that some day I can stay home with our kids.  For now, however, I am plugging away at my job at GMR Marketing...

I have to say, though my life-long aspiration has been to be a stay-at-home-mom, I do love my job.  It's extremely stressful working 40 hours a week tied to a desk (often with additional hours worked at home via blackberry and remote access) and keeping up with the demands of motherhood and marriage, but I have the two best people in the world - my mom and Patty Houk (really, my 2nd mom since I was about 10 and became the best of friends with Katie) - caring for and teaching Maddie about the world around her while I'm off introducing the latest products to consumers.  I also have the most supportive, patient, good-hearted husband in the world.  I would not survive without him, that is for sure!

This week, GMR was named one of the Top 100 Places to Work in Southeastern Wisconsin.  It's quite an honor, especially because the employees themselves voted for the award.  Here is the full list http://www.jsonline.com/business/94285359.html.

I've learned a lot of great things about business and just the world around me while working here and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this organization.

What's new with Maddie?  Just in the last couple of weeks she has begun talking non-stop.  She's been speaking in sentences for a while now, but the words just keep coming now...they don't stop.  Wonder where that comes from?!?!  She absolutely MUST do everything by herself and is not shy about letting you know if she disagrees with something you are doing.  Again, where could this POSSIBLY come from?!?!  I recently (finally) downloaded pictures from Easter and just this spring.  Here are a few shots that I think capture Miss Madelyn's personality:

I can't even recall what she was laughing at, but I can almost hear the laughter when I look at this picture.

She is so sweet and just loves to dole out kisses!

I swear we do not cage our daughter, but we were watching my parents' dog, Murphy, one weekend and could not find Maddie or the dog anywhere.  All of a sudden, Justin looks at the cage (this cage is for a 10 lb dog mind you) and there is Maddie curled up inside with Murphy!

Taking Murphy for a walk in the wagon on Easter Sunday.

Reading books (her favorite thing to do) with her friend, Lizzie, and Lizzie's mom, Sara.

Justin took this photo and I think it captures her to a T.  It just makes me happy to look at this.

Common site - Maddie harrassing Winston and him just taking it in stride.  "Sure, you can bounce on my back while I eat my bone. Whatever."

Making cookies with Mommy in our matching aprons.  She loves to bake - well really she loves to do whatever Mommy is doing.  Love her so much!

So, there is just a quick recap of some of the things we've been up to.  No two days are alike, that's for sure!  My mom (and maybe my sister, if she can get a break from work) and I are going to be painting the kids' rooms this weekend so I will try to get those pictures up as soon as we're done and everything is put together.  We should have plenty to blog about in the next few months - busy summer on tap!  Here are just a few of the things we will be doing this summer:

  • Greg Jennings Celebrity Golf Outing at Merrill Hills (you better BELIEVE I will have my camera there for a chance to snap a shot with Aaron Rodgers and Charles Woodson)
  • Bridal Showers, Baby Showers and Bachelorette Parties
  • WEDDINGS galore! - Already have a few under our belts, but here is what remains - Rachel & Dan (in MN) June 19, Coral and Bryan (in Madison) July 31 (assuming I'm not in labor...), Jamie and Ryan (in MKE) August 14 (again, assuming I'm not in labor...I'm hoping to have already had the baby by this time, not gonna lie)
  • Birthday Parties - Drew is going to be ONE already!!
  • Helping Mary/Kevin and Mom/Dad into the new house at the farm - YEAH!!
  • And of course, A NEW BABY!!!  Sometime in August :)
I think we'll be busy!!  Happy un-official start to summer everyone!  Remember to thank your military, past and present, and say a prayer for all those who've sacrificed so we can have busy summers and all the freedoms we enjoy every day.  GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
